CURRENT AND PAST ACTIVITIES

November 2010
The Foundation gave two electronic keyboards to the Red House Blues Band of the well-known Ferrari car manufacturing company, thanks to the support of Company Mogar Music. The gift arose in order to support the Band’s initiatives carried out merely for charity purposes. Concert of the Carisch ‘amateur’ Orchestra in the Santo Stefano Church in Milan. The Foundation has been supporting such project since June 2010.

The Foundation took part in the Bologna MUSIC ITALY SHOW, E 40 stand, Pavilion 33, presenting the activities carried out to date, together with a small museum with some musical rarities which have characterised the Monzino family’s entrepreneurial activity.

The ‘Publishing related Historic Research’ project started. The entire material pertaining to Edizioni Carish was examined and catalogued. The project will reinforce the research already carried out on the ‘historic’, ‘iconographic’ and ‘instrumental’ material.

Participation of the Foundation in the Dance, Theatre and Signing School tenth anniversary Ball at the Teatro Dal Verme of Milan, organised by the Director Ms Monica Cagnani. For the occasion, the PEPITA Youth Orchestra (De Musica Ass. Onlus project supported by the Foundation) played.

Participation of the Foundation in the making, wished for and organised by AIDAF (association of family owned companies), of the volume ‘Creating value in family owned companies with culture and art’. The volume was presented on the occasion of the Association’s national conference in Florence, on 12 and 13 November.

Concert of the Orchestra Sinfónica de la Juventud Venezolana Simón Bolívar directed by Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. The Antonio Carlo Monzino Foundation took part in and supported the event in collaboration with other sponsors.

Formulation of the publication project: ” I primi trent’ anni della Civica Scuola di Liuteria 1978 – 2008” a book related to the thirtieth anniversary of the Luthier’s Art Municipal School to highlight the respective prestigious goal. The Foundation was entrusted the relevant coordination.

In-depth analysis and historic research related to the Monzino Family’s Activity, which started in 1750, completing new documentation.

Foundation’s Website remaking project, started reviewing texts and iconographic material.

Cataloguing project, restoration and preservation of the Collection’s instruments as regards that part owned by the Foundation itself, entrusted to Master Luthier Fausto Cacciatori.

Concert project in collaboration with La Scala Chamber Orchestra which played with instruments of the time from the Monzino Collection. The instruments indicated by the musicians were restored and the event was held on the occasion of the Foundation’s tenth anniversary before June 2009.

Performance of the Little Golden Heart project promoted by the Leccese group, with the supply of musical instruments to complete artistic laboratories in five schools throughout the Italian territory.

November 2007
The Antonio Carlo Monzino Foundation adhered to the Pepita della De Musica Onlus project, in order to create a youth classic orchestra formed by students of the suburban area schools of an age ranging between 10 and 19.
The 6 Area Council gave the possibility to use areas to have lessons during the afternoons throughout the week. Courses are held by Teachers who, in addition to their respective proven skills, share the project’s social purposes.

The Antonio Carlo Monzino Foundation adhered to the Bucaneve della De Musica Onlus Project, which takes music, or rather, playing music into kindergartens, based on the principle that scientific research has proven that this musical practice is fundamental for the intellectual, creative and social development of children from their earliest childhood.

The Foundation took part in the ‘Born for music’ project in collaboration with the Paediatricians’ Cultural Association which sets itself the goal of following children’s health also from a cognitive development point of view, in connection with the relationship with music, raising the awareness of parents, paediatricians and educators to the importance of sound expression and musical practice.

The Foundation adhered to the Little Golden Heart Singing Competition Project promoted by the Leccese Group.

On the occasion of the “Brass Parade” festival within the Rimini DISMA MUSIC SHOW, the Antonio Carlo Monzino Foundation, formerly De Musica Fondazione Antonio Monzino, in memory of the founder Antonio Monzino Senior, created a prize dedicated to him. Thanks to the organisational support of ANBIMA (Associazione Nazionale Bande Italiane Musicali Autonome, that is, the Italian Independent Music Bands National Association), the “FIRST ANTONIO MONZINO SENIOR PRIZE” took place on 12 March. A Tuba Yamaha Bass was donated to the FANFARA BERSAGLIERI “LEOPOLDO PELLAS” FROM JESOLO (VE), who won the first prize.

Antonio Monzino’s participation, in the capacity as spokesman at the 1st National Family Owned Companies’ Congress, which was held in Milan, on 11 and 12 November to present the Family Foundation.

On 26-28 October there was an informal meeting of the European Ministers of Education, Employment, Welfare, University and Research, the European Union Commissioner and the OECD Secretary-General for Education, chaired by Minister Moratti, with the collaboration of the Head Office for International Affairs and the Regional Office for Education. De Musica Foundation took part in the opening evening at Circolo Società del Giardino, making the concert possible with the setting-up of period harps.

"New Horizons" a project created by the Antonio Carlo Monzino Foundation, formerly De Musica Fondazione Antonio Monzino, for the learning of music in old age, in order to improve quality of life also in terms of greater socialisation and wise entertainment.
De Musica Associazione Onlus enabled the operational phase under the name of Elleboro.

"Music and Brain" - Collaboration of the Foundation with CISO (the Italian Centre for Health and Hospital History), sending study material collected in those years and taking part in events, summits, congresses, and providing the names of possible spokesmen. Antonio Monzino Jr was spokesman, who established important contacts for the Foundation with the academic world. The congress was held on 14 December 2002 in Reggio Emilia.

"The New World", an exhibition opened on 9 November, before the President of the Italian Republic.
The Foundation collaborated by adhering to the request to present two instruments belonging to the Collection for the respective mounting and by examining the related texts.

Mr Antonio Monzino’s participation in the Seminar organised by the music youth, in Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan, to whom he gave evidence of entrepreneurship in social work, speaking about the non-profit institution and the Foundation before the Secretary-General of the Jeunesse Musicales International Federation, the Chairman of the Gioventù Musicale of Italy, the Chairman of Eurisko, the Councillor in charge of Education of the Province of the Municipality, the Artistic Director of the Maggio Musicale fiorentino and the Radio2 and Radio3 RAI Director.

Creation of the event for the presentation of the Foundation and of the Donation to the Sforza Castle in Milan of an important part of the string and pinch Collection of Instruments owned by the Foundation. Also the two hundred and fifty years of activity of the Monzino Group were celebrated on this occasion. The city Institutions took part in the event with the attendance of the Region’s Councillor Prof. Ettore Albertoni, the Town Council’s Councillor Mr Salvatore Carrubba, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Mr Carlo Sangalli, together with the Keeper of the Sforza Castle’s Museum of Musical Instruments Mr Claudio Salsi.

Sponsoring of the "Jazz & Press" music festival at the Press Club, with the Artistic Direction of Lucia Minetti and the participation of Giorgio Gaslini.

The Foundation’s conditional gift to the Sforza Castle’s Museum of Musical Instruments of 79 works which represent the Lombard production of string and pinch instruments from 1750 to 1930. This deed was implemented in the name of Antonio Monzino Sr, in order to give all and, in particular, young generations the opportunity to admire what the human brain can build applying ‘knowledge’ (see the Collezione Monzino).
